Unused footage for 'Frayed Ends'

We decided to come up with another idea for our coming of age film, this was because after several attempts we were still unable to get a good amount of footage that was of a good enough quality to use for the opening sequence of 'Frayed Ends'. Low key lighting was an issue in the footage as there was very little light within the shots therefore the action in the shot was unclear and couldn't be seen very well.
Another problem with the original footage was that it was all filmed from the same angle, which made the opening sequence feel very repetitive and boring. This helped us when it came to filming for our second idea, as we were then more aware and careful to film from different angles and perspective in order to make the product more creative and interesting for the audience.

Evaluation- In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I evaluated the codes and conventions that we challenged, developed and used in our opening sequence 'Lonely This Christmas', I made this website using WIX to show all the conventions.

Evaluation- How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Evaluation- What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Evaluation- Who would be the audience for your media product?

I think we managed to appeal to our target audience as we raised themes similar to other conventional coming of age films. This meant that they know they will enjoy ‘Lonely This Christmas’ as they had enjoyed other films from the same genre or that follow a similar narrative. However through the Christmas theme it also attracts the teenage target audience as it makes it different from other films from the same genre.

It also deals with issues that teenagers commonly experience such as being strongly influenced by other people even if you don’t agree with the views or behaviours.  The opening sequence showing the life of an adult female who dealt with peer pressure and other issues throughout her teenage and school experience badly can help viewers feel more confident to be themselves and not let other people dictate how you should behave.

The secondary audience for 'Lonely This Christmas' is boyfriends of females within the primary audience, people from demographics D and the 'creatives' in demographic B. People who are fans of other coming of age films will also be part of the secondary audience as if they liked other coming of age films they may also enjoy 'Lonely This Christmas'.
We were able to target and attract a specific audience as part of the planning and research we created an audience profile which then enabled us to tailor our product to meet their wants and requirements.

Our original idea 'Frayed Ends' which demonstrated that despite your wealth status, the same issues; such as isolation and being self concious affect everyone. 'Frayed Ends' targeted an audience of females aged 12-18. We targeted the same primary audience as they are the group who most commonly suffer the themes and issues raised in 'Lonely This Christmas'.

Also, they are the primary audience for the majority of coming of age films, which means that by targeting them as our audience we are more likely to receive more interest as they have a previous interest in this genre of films.
